Northumberland-Walks.co.uk - photographic walks in Northumberland.Thrunton Wood Walks.Introduction Thrunton Wood is a working forest on private land located about 7 miles north of Longframlington on a side road off the A697, north of New Moor Crossroads. It is managed by the Forestry Commission. There is a car park and picnic area on the roadside with great views to Coe Crags. At the time we visited there were several waymarked trails shown on a map board in the car park. These had colour coded marker posts located along the route. We followed the Crag Top route. It is understood that the routes may have changed and there are no public rights of way in Thrunton Wood. The route we took may no longer exist. These photos are a record of our walk at the time we visited which was was harvesting time at Whittingham. From a seat on the edge of the forest there were great views of the fields and countryside below and beyond the Vale of Whittingham to the Cheviot Hills.
